Two views of Canada, original steel engravings by Lemaitre, each headed "Canada" and made in France around 1850. The sheet shows "Fleuve St-Laurent et Village de Cèdres" at the left and "Citadelle de Québec" at the right.

The first plate looks across the St. Lawrence to the village of Cedars. A tall wooden cross stands in the left foreground beside a fence, and the village lies behind it with a church with a spire, clustered houses and trees. On the river in the middle distance, sailing barges with large sails and timber rafts move along the water, and wooded hills rise on the far shore under a cloudy sky.

The second plate shows the Citadel of Quebec on its height above the river. In the foreground, men work with logs on the shore beside a wooden shed. Behind them, the stone walls of the citadel rise above the clustered buildings, with a flag and a small cross-topped building on the crest and a tall obelisk monument at the right. Sailing vessels lie on the water below, and the far shore appears in the distance.

The prints come from a set of small Canadian plates made for a European audience.
